IOC announces new visual recognition system expected to be completed before Paris Olympics
Beijing, September 29 (Xinhua) — On the 28th local time, the International Olympic Committee announced a new visual recognition system. The new vision system aims to support the core values of the Olympic brand while enhancing its recognition and influence.
The Olympic fifth ring is a famous symbol designed by Pierre-de Coubertin in 1913. Based on the Olympic rings, the Olympic Games has been one of the most widely known brands in the world for a long time. However, with the gradual development of this brand over the past 100 years, the International Olympic Committee has realized the need to create a comprehensive basic logo.
Mei-Glavey, head of the brand management department of the International Olympic Committee, said: “Over the years, the Olympic Games have conveyed tolerance, unity and hope. Now, it is time to integrate these eternal values into a comprehensive Olympic brand logo. This kind of logo not only appeared during the Olympic Games, but also reflected in every competition.”
It is reported that the main contents of this system include three sets of specially customized fonts, 17 cartoon illustrations, the modeling of some graphics and the methods of how to use these elements. These abstract elements will play a more guiding role than specifically designing the finished product.
The complete brand promotion is expected to be completed before the 2024 Paris Olympics. In the future, all Olympic and youth Olympic versions will adopt the evolving brand logo.
New brand elements are also expected to be released in the future. In the next few months, a new set of Olympic movement and general pictograms will be unveiled for the first time, and new illustrations will be added step by step to enrich and update the current digital products. (Finished)
