Two-time Olympic champion Chen Zhong was selected into the first Hall of Fame of the World Taekwondo League
Beijing, August 2 (Xinhua) according to the China Taekwondo Association, on the 1st Beijing time, the World Taekwondo Federation Joint Conference was held in Bulgaria. At the meeting, the first members of the World Taekwondo Hall of Fame were officially announced. Chen Zhong, a Chinese taekwondo player and two taekwondo Olympic champions, was selected.
At the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, taekwondo became the official Olympic event for the first time. At the age of 18, Chen Zhong won the first Olympic gold medal for China among the 67kg women’s superiors and the first in the history of taekwondo in the world.
In the Athens Olympic Games four years later, Chen Zhong became the first Olympic defending champion of taekwondo with more comprehensive technical and tactical capabilities. Since then, Chen Zhong successively won the gold medal of the Doha Asian Games and the world championships in 2006 and 2007, becoming the first taekwondo player who integrated the three championships of the Olympic Games, Intercontinental games and the world championships.
According to the introduction of China Taekwondo Association, Chen Zhong has always insisted on devoting himself to sports and devoted himself to the popularization and promotion of taekwondo among teenagers. Chen Zhong participated in the award ceremony through video connection on that day.
