The governor of Tokyo, Kochi Yizi, said that he hoped to make good use of the legacy of the Tokyo Olympic Games and push Tokyo forward.
The memorial ceremony was held at the new National Arena in Tokyo on the same day. A year ago today, the Tokyo Olympics kicked off here.
According to NHK, Japan, the ceremony partially reproduced the opening ceremony. Different from no audience a year ago, there were about 15000 spectators present on that day. The mascots “Miraitowa” and “Someity” of Kochi Lily and Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games served as the entry guide of “athletes, some athletes who won medals in Tokyo Olympic Games and teenagers who love sports waved to the audience.
Kochi hyunzi said after the ceremony, “because of the new Crown epidemic, the holding of Tokyo Olympic Games has gone through hardships, hoping to make good use of the heritage of Tokyo Olympic Games and promote Tokyo’s development”. Yoshiko Hashimoto, chairman of Tokyo Olympic organizing committee, also attended the ceremony.
Due to the new Crown epidemic, Tokyo Olympic Games was postponed for one year, becoming the first Olympic Games in history to be postponed for one year.
