Beijing, September 6 (Xinhua) — To commemorate the 77th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s Anti-Japanese War and the World Anti-Fascist War, this morning, the launching ceremony of the 36th Lugouqiao Xingshi cross-country run in Beijing was held at the Chinese People’s Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall. Wang Ning, vice chairman of Beijing Municipal Political Consultative Conference, delivered a speech and announced the opening of the event. Wang Hong and Yan Ying, vice chairman of Beijing Municipal Political Consultative Conference, attended the event.

At the scene of the event, members of Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, primary and middle school students, etc. sang the national anthem of the People’s Republic of China in front of the anti-Japanese War Museum and sang “Yellow River chorus” and “Dadao March”. After that, representatives from all walks of life set out from the anti-Japanese War Museum, crossed Wanping city, walked onto Lugou Bridge, and reviewed the history of anti-Japanese War in the memorial place where the anti-Japanese War broke out.

In order to facilitate the participation of people from all walks of life, use “patriotic running” to convey love for the national conditions, better continue the spirit of anti-Japanese war and unite the strength to forge ahead, the organizer carried out the “cloud running” activity through the “Beijing Sports Federation” APP, and signed up for the public. From September 6 to September 25, participants need to complete 5 runs of no less than 2 kilometers each time, and punch in online through the “Star run” function of the APP. Each clock-in will light a anti-Japanese War story node on the map and activate the corresponding graphic introduction. The organizer expressed the hope that through this form of interaction, everyone will be encouraged to remember history, cherish the martyrs, cherish peace and create the future.

Beijing Lugou Bridge Xingshi cross-country running activity, formerly known as “Beijing Lugou Bridge long distance running relay race”, has been held once a year on the side of Lugou Bridge since 1987.
