Chairman of the World Sailing Federation: sailing attaches great importance to anti-doping work
Xinhua News Agency, Geneva, September 20 (reporter Shan Lei) Li Quanhai, chairman of the World Sailing Federation, was interviewed by Xinhua News Agency on the 20th and reviewed the meeting with IOC President Bach in Lausanne, Switzerland last week, it indicates that sailing attaches great importance to anti-doping work.
Li Quanhai had an hour-long meeting with Bach at the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee on the 13th. He said: “We reported to President Bach the preparations for the Paris Olympic Games and the development of the project. President Bach especially emphasized the need to pay attention to the anti-doping work of sailing. Although there are very few cases of stimulants in sailing, he said that any doping event would be disastrous. The world sail League attaches great importance to anti-doping work and has been considering the proposal put forward by chairman Bach to establish an independent anti-doping agency.”
Li Quanhai said that the Paris Olympics will further promote the development of sailing around the world. He said: “The Paris Olympic organizing committee has overcome great difficulties and made great efforts to prepare for the Olympic sailing competition. We will do our best to assist them in their work, ensure the success of the Paris Olympic sailing competition.”
