Su Bingtian: in order to improve by 0.01 seconds, make 100% efforts
Men’s sprinter Su Bingtian —
in order to improve by 0.01 seconds, make 100 percent efforts (strivers are young)
on May 19, Beijing time, the International Olympic Committee officially announced, the Chinese men’s 4 × 100 m relay team won the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympic Games. As the main player of the Chinese team, Su Bingtian, the sprinter, finally gained a valuable medal in his third Olympic trip. He published “acceptance speech” through video: This Olympic medal belongs to all Chinese sprinters!
From 2015, I broke into the 10-second mark for the first time, and ran 9 seconds 83 to the men’s 100-meter semi-final of the Tokyo Olympic Games to enter the final. In the pursuit of excellence, the 33-year-old Su Bingtian never stopped moving forward. Whether it is the Chinese “flying man” on the 100-meter track or the PE teacher who teaches running skills on campus, he is struggling to run on different “tracks.
The Stadium did not have smooth sailing, but he always lost more and more courage
On the morning of July 16, Beijing time, the men’s 100 m preliminary of Oregon World Track and Field Championships started, and Su Bingtian stepped on the world championship for the sixth time. Seven years ago, the IAAF Diamond League us Eugene Station was in the same field. He ran 9 seconds 99 and became the first Chinese men’s 100 meters player to break into the 10 seconds pass.
After breaking the 10-second mark, Su Bingtian ran 9 seconds 91 again in 2018, equalizing the men’s 100-meter Asian record. At the Tokyo Olympics, he significantly increased the Asian record to 983 seconds and became the first Asian player to enter the men’s 100 meters final of the Olympic Games. While making many breakthroughs in Chinese track and field, he also frequently brought surprises in the competition: in the 2015 World Championships, he and his teammates won the runner-up of the men’s 4 × 100 m relay; In the 2018 Asian Games, he defeated various Masters and won the precious men’s 100 m gold medal for the Chinese sports delegation.
Honor is not the whole of Su Bingtian’s career. He is more frustrated and more brave in difficulties, writing another aspect of his sports life. Injuries happen from time to time, including several serious injuries, but every time he can get out of setbacks and return to the peak. The stadium was not smooth. In the men’s 100-meter semi-final of the 2013 Moscow world championships, Su Bingtian was sent off due to the rush, which led to his psychological shadow on the starting gun. However, Su Bingtian did not shrink back. Instead, he faced difficulties and finally turned the starting exercise into his own advantage.
“One day I walked to the playground alone, stood in front of the runway and asked myself if I really couldn’t run?” After a serious injury in 2019, Su Bingtian thought about giving up for a while, “there will be an answer in my heart soon. I can still run. As long as I overcome the injury, I can still fly!” The fighting spirit of marching forward has always provided motivation for his sports career.
Has an almost harsh pursuit of technical details
at the Oregon World Championships, Su Bingtian entered the semifinal of the men’s 100 m project in the world championships for the fifth time in a row. For sprinters, every 0.01 seconds of improvement in performance requires 100% effort, and Su Bingtian has an almost harsh pursuit of technical details.
The small tape measure that Su Bingtian carried with him is no longer a “secret weapon”. No matter during pre-competition training or competition, he will take out a small tape measure and carefully look for the best position to place starting block. After years of summing up experience and studying, Su Bingtian constantly “elaborately” his running skills to improve training efficiency and performance.
On April this year, Su Bingtian wrote “scientific training makes me break through” in People’s Daily, introducing his “secret” of breaking the Asian record in the Tokyo Olympic Games “. “Through study and research, I found that in order to improve my performance, I must solve my previous problems such as insufficient strength of the post-thigh muscle group and ankle joint, slow speed and speed of active landing, unreasonable starting posture, etc, so I changed the starting foot from left foot to right foot. This was a very important decision for athletes, which finally made me achieve a breakthrough and success.” Su Bingtian wrote, “In addition, the optimization and adjustment of ankle depression and swing arm technology are also gradually formed in my continuous learning and summary.”
“The high-quality development of Chinese competitive sports cannot be separated from the key kinetic energy of scientific training.” Su Bingtian said. In addition to sweating on the training ground, continuous research on topics and improving the knowledge and theoretical level of scientific training are also important contents of his daily training preparation. In recent years, Su Bingtian has published papers in academic journals several times after training. In the study and training, he constantly studied the technology to help him maintain excellent competitive level for many years and constantly create excellent results for Chinese track and field.
Share experience and help more young people
In addition to the status of state track and field team Chinese athletes, Su Bingtian is currently a teacher of the Institute of Physical Education of Jinan University. On the court, he inspired Chinese athletes to cut through the thorns and climb the peak bravely. On campus, he devoted himself to preaching and teaching, trying his best to pass on his skills and knowledge to more people.
“When touching the ground, pull your feet up and down directly, which may save 0.01 seconds……” After the 14th National Games last year, Su Bingtian, who ended the one-year competition task, returned to the campus and gave a special running sharing class. From the flexibility exercise of the whole body exercise system to the special coordination training of running, facing the enthusiastic students, Su Bingtian is meticulous and devoted to each other.
At the end of 2021, Su Bingtian speed research and training center was unveiled in Jinan University, taking the cutting-edge technology of track and field training as the main direction. On the eve of Teachers’ Day this year, Su Bingtian donated 1 million yuan to Jinan University to cultivate high-level athletes. It is his goal to contribute to the construction of sports power, “I will continue to insist on exploring my own possibilities on the runway, we will also try our best to help more students with their own life experience and field experience, so that they can receive advanced sprint training.”
In your “main stadium”-track and field, can you still bring surprises? At least he never gave up his efforts. “I didn’t leave the runway because I saw the possibility of further breakthrough. Although it is very difficult, I will continue to insist.” Su Bingtian said.
Looking forward to the future, Su Bingtian said that in the relay field of the Hangzhou Asian Games next year, he hopes to work together with his teammates and strive for success.
The pace of struggle never stops.
